New Lookout - Project Diary
June 2013
Planning consent for our new lookout achieved
Teignbridge District Council granted us planning consent for a new lookout, which will not only enable us to perform our duties better but will also enhance the local area.
A full A1 size copy of the planning drawing for the new lookout is available. (Loads pdf file in new window).

Building work on our new Lookout will begin shortly!
Thanks to a substantial grant from the Viridor Credits Environmental Company and many other smaller but equally welcome grants and donations, we now have the funds to build our new Lookout and work is expected to begin within weeks.
Once the old Lookout has been demolished, we hope to be temporarily housed somewhere along the esplanade in a mobile unit maintained by National Coastwatch for just such situations.
Our webcam and weather station are proving to be increasing popular, with over 5000 hits in the last month. We hope to keep these running during the building process but inevitably there will be some service disruption. We will add notes about this to the weather and webcam pages when we have more details.
Monday 2nd March
Temporary Lookout arrives on site
Big day! This morning our temporary Lookout arrived on site and we just hope that the winter storms have passed because this will be vulnerable to a big easterly gale.
Thursday 5th March
Fully up and running even if a bit untidy.
Phone line - connected
VHF radios - all working
Weatherstation - working
Binoculars - operational
Webcam - up and running
The only thing we don't have is running water for tea (but Eastcliff Cafe is only a short stagger) and radar which we won't be installing in our temporary home.
